In the year 1963, a Computing Centre, first of its kind in the Southern Region was established in College of Engineering Guindy Campus, to render computing service to academic community of entire region. Later during the Centenary celebrations of Ramanujan, to honour the memory of the prodigious mathematical genius, the Centre was named as Ramanujan Computing Centre (RCC). RCC takes pride to state that former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, become the President of India while working at this Centre and his office room at RCC inspires and cherishes many. The Centre grown with the vision "To Provide World Class Computing Technology to Students, Faculty, Researchers and Administrators”, for the University.

The Centre is rendering computing infrastructure and services to the University for academic and administrative requirement. The Centre has established fibre based high speed campus network and a server Centre to provide common services such as e-mail, web services, etc. for the University. The network facility has been enhanced with sophisticated WiFi connectivity throughout the campus. The Internet tree, infrastructure for accessing the campus Network/Internet, is also part of this WiFi service. The Centre functions 24x7 basis on all 365 days. The Centre established and maintain University web-site. Video Streaming Server has been installed at the Centre, to render Video Conference/Video-on-demand facility to the four Institutions in Main Campuses (CEG, MIT, ACT, SAP) and other constituent Campuses. This facilitates the students/faculty to participate lectures, delivered in any campus of the University.

The Centre engaged in developing software needed for the academic and administrative works of the University. The Centre conducts short term training program under continuing Education Programmes too. The Centre is responsible for the purchase all computer related equipment, accessories and services for the University Departments.

The Centre directly renders academic service to more than 7000 students ranging from UG, PG and Ph.D research scholars by the way of providing systems with necessary software. The Centre offers the masters program, “M.E. Computer Science and Engineering with the specialization in Operation research”. The Centre also takes the responsibility of handling the Python Programming / C Programming classes for the first year B.E/B.Tech students.
