University Grants Commission has recognized the achievements of Anna University in the field of Biomedical Instrumentation and provided the University with the coveted status as the University with Potential for Excellence in the field of Bio Medical Engineering and Instrumentation and sanctioned fund of 23 Crores.
All the faculty members of Centre for Medical Electronics had played active roles in the UGC funded programme University with Potential for Excellence in Biomedical Engineering and Instrumentation. A research lab named Optoelectronics and Medical Imaging Lab had been developed with various equipment and image processing software worth of Rs.2,13,74,000 (Rupees Two Crore Thirteen Lakh and Seventy-Four Thousand) through UGC-UPE Scheme.
