“Every drop counts-Donate Blood”

Venue : CEG – Alumni Centre, Anna University

Beneficiary : Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Chennai–8

No. of Units : 121 Units

UYIR THULI’19 was organized by the Youth Red Cross of CEG 17.09.2019 (Tuesday) at CEG – Alumni Centre. It was inaugurated by YRC program officers Dr.D.NARASHIMAN (UNIT 1), Dr.V.GOMATHI (UNIT 2), Dr.R.LAVANYA (UNIT 3), and Dr.K.MALARMOHAN (UNIT 4).

It was a great success with more than 246 registrations and 111 donations. The camp started at 9.30 am went on till 3.30 pm. An experienced medical team from the blood bank of Indian Red Cross Society collected blood from the donors.

SUKARAKSHA'18 was organised by the Youth Red Cross of CEG 30.08.2018(Thursday) at CEG – Alumni Centre. It was a great success with more than 250 registrations and 121 donations. The camp started at 10.00 am went on till 3.30 pm. An experienced medical team from the blood bank of Indian Red Cross Society collected blood from the donors.

“Blood is meant to circulate, so pass it around!”

Beneficiary : Blood Bank of Royapettah Government Hospital

The Doctors with Medical Teams from the Royapettah Government Hospital arrived at the Camp site around 9:00 a.m. The camp inaugurated by Mr.D.Narasimhan, YRC Programme Officer donating the blood.


Then, the students started pouring in. Without any second thought, sans expectations to get anything in return but with the thought to save a life, many donated their blood. The students registered their name, department, blood type and phone numbers in the Registration Form. Their weights were noted and based on their hemoglobin count they were checked if they were eligible to donate blood. The donors were handed refreshments after they donated blood and presented with a certificate for their priceless service to humanity. Not just students, many teaching and non teaching staffs of Anna university also graced the event with their presence and contributed their blood.

The event happened with such vigour and excitement. More than 200 registrations and 134 donors, the camp was an eminent success and came to close around 3:00 p.m. after which the blood was safely taken by the hospital authorities back to the blood bank for use under emergencies. This camp stands as a testimony to every student’s social concern and moral instinct to serve the society.

Beneficiary : Blood Bank of Cancer Institute, Chennai–20

The Youth Red Cross of CEG Campus, Anna University jointly with Cancer Institute, Adyar organised a Blood Donation Camp named SUKARAKSHA’16 on 31.08.2016 (Wednesday) at the CEG-Alumni Centre, Anna University. A Medical Team from Cancer Institute Blood Bank arrived at 9:00 am with all the necessary equipments and the camp was inaugurated by Mr.D.Narashiman, YRC Programme Officer, CEG Campus around 9:30 am. The donors were first made to register.

Then they underwent a test to know their Blood Group and Hemoglobin content followed by BP check done by an experienced medical officer. Based on the test results, the donors who were considered eligible to donated about 350 ml of blood. Finally refreshments were provided and a Certificate of Appreciation was given by Cancer Institute. Students, Ph.D. Scholars, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staffs of Anna University donated blood. Dr.P.Narayanasamy, Dean, CEG Campus, Dr.B.Kumar, YRC Programme Coordinator and all the other units YRC Programme Officers of CEG Campus supervised the camp and gave moral support.About 164 units of blood had been collected. The camp came to an end by 3.30 pm.
