Centre for Food Technology was established in 2004. To cater to the rising demand of skilled manpower in food processing sector, a degree programme in B.Tech (Food Technology) with an intake capacity of 40 seats per year for the ultimate output of professional graduates specialized in food processing, preservation, quality control and novel nutritious product development. Centre started Post Graduate programmes in M.Tech and Ph.D (Food Technology) from the year 2008.

The centre of this stature is duly recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi for the degree programmes in B.Tech / M.Tech (Food Technology)

CFT has its advanced Food tech research facilities with modern infrastructure at its Taramani campus. The centre has established mutual collaborations with various industries and National statutory bodies which funds for its fundamental research. CFT also has its international collaborations with foreign universities like University of Guelph (Canada), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Wageningen University (Netherlands), Illinois Institute of Technology (USA), KTH Royal Institute of Technology, University of New South Wales (Sydney) etc., promoting exchange of student and staff with the partner universities. We have also collaboration with many industries and premier Indian institutes

Food Safety and Supervisor Training and Certification (FoSTaC)- Advanced Manufacturing Level -2 • One of our collaborator National Agro Foundation in association with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) organizes this FoSTaC training for our undergraduate and Postgraduate students regularly

Association of Food Scientists and Technologists- (AFSTI) • In association with AFSTI, centre organises various national level conferences, national level seminars emphasizing the need for Food Research and Food Safety
